I created this small bowl from the end of a board which I was converting into salad servers (for Forest Treasures). However, the wood simply became too interesting to make into functional utensils ... so, an artform was in order.

The twisting direction of the grain called for a piece with curves and points and I went for the 'really small base' look which I'm quite keen on at present.

The wood also took a very nice finish which I worked through to a nice sheeny satin gloss.

I'm very happy with the way this piece has worked out ... and, I think it is probably my favourite current piece right now ... from some angles it is very 'serpentine' ... very 'slytherin' ...
